The Ethiopia Bekele Yutute Coffee

The Ethiopia Bekele Yutute Coffee

The Ethiopia Bekele Yutute Coffee is a premium coffee grown by Bekele Yutute on his family-owned 3.9-hectare farm, Denbi, located in Ethiopia's Southern Nationalities, Nations, and People's Region. Unlike many coffee producers who sell their cherries at local washing stations, Bekele is part of the Lalisaa Project, which connects him directly with buyers like us, ensuring complete transparency and ethical sourcing.

Bekele has been farming coffee for over 30 years, but despite his years of experience, he lacked the resources and exposure necessary to access the international market, limiting his potential livelihood from his coffee. By partnering with the Lalisaa Project, Bekele has been able to find stability and financial security, as well as the opportunity to help the community of member farmers by sharing the wealth of knowledge he has gained throughout his long career.

Bekele's farm sits at an impressive elevation of 2,150m above sea level. This high elevation, combined with the region's cool climate, is ideal for the slow ripening of coffee cherries, leading to denser beans and a sweeter, more complex cup profile. Coffee is grown as a cash crop, alongside other food crops like corn, grain, and bananas. The coffee is intercropped amongst native forest and grows under the shade of Birbira, Wanza, and Acacia trees. Like many Ethiopian smallholder farmers, Bekele uses organic farming practices that rely heavily on the manual labour of his and his family.

When you brew a cup of Ethiopia Bekele Yutute Coffee, you're not just indulging in a delicious, fruity brew. You're supporting the livelihood of a passionate coffee producer and his family. You're also contributing to the success of the Lalisaa Project, an initiative that aims to provide opportunities and resources for smallholder farmers and connect them directly to overseas buyers.

We are proud to offer the Ethiopia Bekele Yutute Coffee, and we invite you to try it out for yourself. With every sip, you'll taste the quality and care that goes into producing this premium, ethically sourced coffee. By choosing to buy Bekele's coffee, you're not only enjoying a delicious cup of coffee, but you're also making a positive impact in the world.
