Region: Andean Region
Altitude: 1600-1800 masl
Variety: Caturra, Castillo, Tabi varietals
Known as the 'Gold' or ‘Coffee Triangle’, coffee plantations in the central Colombian Andes have developed into one of the most important export products for the country. The Huila region, in particular, regularly produces Cup of Excellence winning lots, and in 2013 received the same honour as Champagne and Roquefort cheese among other renowned location specific goods by receiving Denomination of Origin status. Specialty roasters and baristas will tell you Huila is one of their favourite coffee origins, thanks to its bright acidity, sweetness and aromatic profile.
To brew: Add 2g (roughly half a teaspoon) of Brill coffee to 175ml of hot water or milk. Stir and enjoy.
Better than supermarket coffee but lacks flavour
I really wanted to like this, it's such a neat idea. Unfortunately no matter how I made the coffee (black or white) it lacked any real flavour and tasted quite papery.
It's bloody excellent
Time to throw the aeropress in the bin folks. This stuff is liquid gold.
Delish, Unique, and Fun
I love the whole approach Brill has (I was originally enticed by a social media ad, something I very rarely pay attention to) , so I ordered a sample pack. The Brill team was awesome when I had a COVID-related shipping delay, and they sent me a bonus pack. I was really curious about the taste and when it came I was pleasantly surprised, it has a really great smell and taste, not at all like instant coffee, but somehow sweeter and tangier at the same time. Love the packaging too which just shows an attention to detail. Highly recommend!
This coffee is so smooth. I was so surprised and delighted at how good it tastes. I honestly think it's better than most long blacks I've bought from a cafe. Barista tasting coffee at home and sustainable, yep I'm about that!
Surprising ... yet expected quality
It's hard to imagine enjoying instant coffee this much.
